Doi Chang Natural Tea Garden has started its agricultural business in 1999 with the main objective of producing pure organic tea by working with nature and respecting nature (without involvement of any chemical substances). The first target is aimed at producing high quality tea (without any remaining toxins) which has a pleasant fragrance and is a refreshing and a thirst‐quenching beverage. This tea is called
“TEA FOR HIGH QUALITY”
High quality tea is a real health beverage especially for both body and mind. At the same time, it has to be tasty, healthy and relaxing. On top of this, it is a disease preventing plus health promoting.
The environmentally friendly atmosphere has caused many beehives to come in search of sweet juice in the tea flowers, and thus the taste and the fragrance of honey are left behind on the fresh tea leaves.
Shareholders: Doi Chang Tea was incorporated as a limited company in 2001. There are three shareholders in the company namely:
– Chuchawal Pringpuangkeo
– Erik Svensson
and Pipat Savetvilas
Dry tea leaves have been produced since then, using both technology from Taiwan and the development of local know‐how.
Tea Cultivation Area: 50 Rais (20 Acres or ± 8.5 Hectares) at an altitude of 600 m above mean sea level with natural reservoir from Doi Chang Valley in Pong Prae Sub‐district, Mae Lao District, Chiang Rai Province. Average rainfall is approx. 2,500 mm/year.
Annual Yield: ± 1,500 kg/year (in 2017)
Production Evolution:
It was noticed that lemongrass has insect repellant property while an experimenting method of mixing lemongrass in the in‐house natural fertilizer also showed that it could repel insects effectively. Moreover, tea plants have grown remarkably well. Feeding tea plants with the mixture of lemongrass in the fertilizing system for 5 years brings up an exceedingly high value of antioxidants of fresh tea leaves from 138,000 UmolTrolox/100 grams to 484,082 UmolTrolox. This tea is called
